Who are the Consultants?

Tom DeMaio and Lee Hersch have each spent the last three decades working with organizations, businesses, government agencies, and individuals to overcome barriers that undermine their potential. They are clinical psychologists, business consultants and collaborative professionals. Whether it’s helping a small family business or foundation make the transition to a more corporate culture or assisting a large company renegotiate their team structures or leadership resources, HerschDeMaio has the skills and experience to make a difference.

Dr. Lee Hersch

Dr. Lee Hersch, Principal Consultant at HerschDeMaio, is a psychologist with 30 years of clinical experience. He founded Augusta Psychological Associates in 1983 and has directed it for the past 26 years. Throughout his career he has provided consulting services to a wide range of organizations in the public and private sectors. He has served as President of the Virginia Psychological Association and was elected to two terms as Virginia’s representative to the American Psychological Association. Locally he has served on the Mental Health Board and on the Staunton City School Board, and nationally on professional boards and committees.

Dr. Tom DeMaio

Dr. Tom DeMaio, Principal Consultant at HerschDeMaio is also a psychologist with 25 years of experience and an adjunct professor in the School of Education at the University of Virginia. Dr. DeMaio has consulted to school programs, courts, hospitals, businesses, and non-profit organizations. He has served as the President of the Virginia Academy of Clinical Psychologists, was elected twice as Virginia’s representative to the American Psychological Association, and served one term as a member of its Board of Directors. Dr. DeMaio has also served on local and state Boards and Commissions, as well as profession boards and committees.
